Description

The role of directors and senior managers in championing health and safety cannot be overstated. Their leadership is pivotal in fostering a culture of safety, ensuring the health, safety and well-being of employees and students, and in protecting the University’s reputation.

What are the benefits?

This interactive course will not only offer practical advice but also provide ample opportunities to discuss and reflect on your health and safety leadership actions, both as a leadership team and as individuals.

Topics covered include:

• Why health and safety matters
• Governance, leadership and management at CUG
• Safety culture and leadership behaviours
• Understanding your health and safety risks
• Measuring and monitoring performance
• Practical actions

Who should attend?

People in leadership positions in business units which manage higher risk activities, e.g. labs and workshops.
We also offer a separate workshop ‘Managing Health & Safety’ for staff with managerial responsibilities for managing health and safety risks, such as Lab/Workshop/Studio Managers, Senior Technicians, PIs, Research Support Managers etc.
