Description

Do you regularly lift/move heavy loads? Would you like some help? This practical session will provide participants with sound advice on how to carry out manual handling tasks and apply it to their working environment.

What are the benefits?

Participants will receive sound advice on safer manual handling techniques and learn how to apply these to their working environment.

Topics covered include:

• Brief overview of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 including main objectives of the Legislation
• Good manual handling techniques
• How to complete the manual handling checklist
• How to complete a manual handling assessment
• The University’s policy on manual handling
• Common problems, myths, and solutions
• How injuries occur when lifting and handling

Who should attend?

Any member of staff whose work involves regular manual handling tasks.
