This online workshop provides essential fire safety training and updates on emergency procedures to help create a safer workplace. It covers key aspects of first response, area sweeping, evacuation protocols, and coordination with relevant teams, ensuring all staff are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in the event of a fire or emergency.The session lasts approximately 60 minutes, including any questions.
What are the benefits?
This training is designed to boost staff confidence and improve coordination during fire alarms or emergencies. A well-prepared team ensures a safer environment for everyone and enables a quicker return to normal operations after an incident.
Topics covered include:
• Roles and responsibilities of Sweepers, Coordinators, and Protection Officers• First response procedures for both campus and accommodation settings.• Fire extinguisher use and limitations• Arrival and actions of the Protection Service• Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) and support for disabled individuals• Coordination at building entrances and Assembly Points• Procedures for standing down after an incident
Who should attend?
All staff, regardless of role or department, must attend this mandatory training. Refresher training is required every 3 years.The session will outline evacuation responsibilities for:• Line Managers• Fire Evacuation Sweepers (also known as Fire Marshals or Wardens – terms used interchangeably at Coventry campus)• Evacuation Coordinators (including front-of-house teams)• Teaching Staff, Technicians, Estates Staff• Protection Service Officers and Managers• Staff with disabilities, their Line Managers, and designated ‘Buddies’Note: The link on the Organisational Development page only blocks time in your calendar.The Teams joining link will be sent by facilitators one day before the session.If you don’t receive it, please contact:• M.
