Description

This session offers an introduction to Peer Assisted learning – a student-centred approach to learning which builds confidence, consolidates knowledge, and develops academic performance supplementary to staff-led learning experiences. Beginning with an overview of this educational approach, practices will be shared, and time will be taken to introduce the Coventry University Peer-Peer Mentoring programme.

What are the benefits?

This session is aimed at academic staff looking to extend their knowledge around student-centred educational approaches and Peer-to-Peer Mentoring through Vygo in order to support transition to HE, build belonging and offer opportunities to extend learning beyond the classroom.

Topics covered include:

• The what, why and how of Peer Assisted Learning
• Classroom Practices: Collaborative and Cooperative Paired and Group Activities
• The Coventry University Process: Peer-to-Peer Mentoring with Vygo

Who should attend?

Academic staff looking for further opportunities to embed active, applied, social and inclusive teaching and learning within their practice.
