Description

In this workshop we will focus on student use of APA referencing style and discuss this in relation to marking and giving feedback. An overview of APA style and how it is applied to commonly used sources will be given but the emphasis is on the principles of referencing.

What are the benefits?

• Become familiar with APA style and how it is applied to commonly used sources
• Consider how you and your course team communicate about referencing, and whether it is marked consistently
• Opportunity to ask questions about reference lists, sources and how APA referencing is assessed

Topics covered include:

• Quality of sources vs perfect referencing
• The student perspective: Why consistency in your messaging about referencing to students is important
Please note the workshop is not subject specific and the workshop leader will not be able to speak specifically about issues on your course. However, there will be time for questions and discussion around issues raised.

Who should attend?

• Colleagues who are new to APA referencing style and reviewing student use of it.
